$30 MILLION SUPERLOTTO JACKPOT MAKES CALIFORNIA'S SUMMER EVEN HOTTER
SACRAMENTO, July 6, 1999 -- Lottery officials announced the SuperLotto jackpot for Wednesday, July 7, 1999, at $30 million. "This is a perfect way to kick off the new fiscal year," said Lottery Commissioner, Dave Rosenberg. "Not only does it make California a more exciting place to be, it also translates into more money for California's public schools!"
A single jackpot winner of $30 million who chooses the 26 graduated annual payments would receive approximately $750,000 the first year and $1,530,000 the 26th year (before taxes). A single jackpot winner who chooses the cash option would receive the estimated cash value which is roughly half the announced jackpot or $15 million (before taxes).
In June 1999, Salvador Gonzalez, who bought his ticket in Anaheim, California made Lottery history when he became the record-breaking highest individual jackpot winner of an $87 million jackpot.
SuperLotto can be played at more than 18,000 retail business establishments around the state. The SuperLotto draw takes place each Wednesday and Saturday night at 7:58 p.m. Players can purchase tickets until 7:45 p.m. on the night of the draw.
