SACRAMENTO – A Fullerton housewife is certainly not desperate these days. She’s the rightful owner of a $570,109 prize, after matching five of six winning numbers for the November 25 MEGA Millions draw – missing only the Mega number. While she joyfully told her story to California Lottery representatives and understands the public’s curiosity, she prefers to remain anonymous.
The excited winner and her husband were overjoyed to learn they had won such a large prize. Like many other Californians, they caught “Lotto fever” with the recent $100 million-plus jackpots. Upon finding out the amount won, she was so astonished, she says “I couldn’t close my mouth!”
While her husband acknowledges that they “just missed by an inch,” they are excited to have missed with such a great consolation prize. When asked how they planned to spend the money, the longtime couple had no immediate plans, but asked that Lottery officials “please process it fast!”
The MEGA Millions ticket was purchased at A.A.A. Lottery. The retailer is located within the Del Amo Fashion Center Mall at 3525 Carson Street in Torrance. The winning numbers were 2, 11, 22, 51, 52, and the Mega number was 46.
More than 95 cents of every Lottery dollar is returned to the community in the form of contributions to education, prizes and retail commissions. The California Lottery contributes at least 34 cents of every dollar that players spend on Lottery products to public education and returns more than 50 percent of sales to players in the form of prizes. Since its inception in 1985, the Lottery has contributed nearly $21 billion to California schools out of total sales of more than $56 billion. Retailers benefit too, earning $3.6 billion in compensation since 1985.
