Money for Parties and Golf on the ‘Big Spin®’ Show
SACRAMENTO – Hau Nguyen of San Jose is one of the most excited contestants California Lottery officials have seen on the show. Upon being asked what his plans were with his winnings, his answer was always an emphatic, “Party!” When Nguyen’s spin grossed him $40,000, his extensive throng of supporters cheered wildly, most likely in anticipation of the impending festivities. The grand total won by all contestants on this week’s episode of the Big Spin was $122,500.
Kazuko Wrice from Chula Vista was not just pla ying for herself; she was also representing 11 of her co-workers. With their cheers firing her up, her lucky spin grossed $50,000. The co-workers were looking forward to spending the money on vacations, home remodels and, for one bride-to-be, her upcoming wedding.
Douglas Ingram of El Cajon was eager for his shot at the Fantasy 5 Dream Machine. He is using his Big Spin appearance to bring attention to his March 12, 2009 golf tournament, benefiting the San Diego Meals on Wheels program. Ingram’s spin grossed $10,000, and he plans to use the money to promote the golf tournament to bring awareness and resources to seniors in need.

More than 95 cents of every Lottery dollar is returned to the community in the form of contributions to education, prizes and retail commissions. The California Lottery contributes at least 34 cents of every dollar that players spend on Lottery products to public education and returns more than 50 percent of sales to players in the form of prizes. Since its inception in 1985, the Lottery has contributed nearly $21 billion to California schools out of total sales of more than $56 billion. Retailers benefit too, earning $3.6 billion in compensation since 1985.
