SACRAMENTO – How many people can say they live on two different continents? Well Elizabeth Quigley, an English teacher from Westlake Village as well as Italy, can! She met her professional soccer player husband while she was vacationing in Greece and now lives half the time in the United States and the other half of the time in Italy. Quigley visits her home here in the United States every summer and Christmas. When she came to visit in July her brother bought her a Scratchers® ticket which revealed the winning symbols sending to her The Big Spin wheel. Quigley won $75,000 which she will be splitting with her brother. When asked what the conversion of dollars to euros is she said, “The euros are much less so I will be leaving my money in the states.” Her husband has never been to the United States so she plans to bring him for a visit someday soon. “I’m also going to donate to help the victims of Katrina since this is something I’ve always wanted to do,” said Quigley.
On The Big Spin show this week four contestants won a total of $225,000. The show aired statewide Saturday, October 13, 2007. This week a grand total of $247,500 was won by Big Spin contestants!
Greg Jewell, a real estate agent from San Ramon, played Fantasy 5 Dream Machine. Jewell won a small fortune of $70,000 which he plans to use to travel to China or Europe with his wife. Another Fantasy 5
Dream Machine player was Jeannine Hatchel, a retiree from Hayward. Hatchel a grandmother of 10 said, “I would like to win enough to help with the tuition of the Catholic education of all my grandchildren.” She won a total of $50,000! “My husband has been sick and I would love to take him to France where we were married 51 years ago,” exclaimed Hatchel.
Juan Pinto, a printer from East Palo Alto, beat out nine other contestants in Aces High to get to the big wheel. “Whatever I win I will be splitting with my brother in-law who helped me scratch my ticket,” explained Pinto. After winning $30,000, Pinto said he will be taking a trip with his family, possibly to Hawaii, after the birth of his second child.
